The 2024 College Football season has already seen its first major upset.
No. 10 Florida State fell to unranked Georgia Tech 24-21 after a last-second field goal from the Yellow Jackets cemented a win in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Ireland on Saturday.
Florida State finished undefeated in the regular season in 2023 and brought in veteran quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei from the transfer portal. So far, that experiment is not paying off.
Fans took to social media to roast the Seminoles and declare that their season is already over.
Florida State entered the game with a chip on its shoulder after the controversial end to the 2023 season. However, the Seminoles did themselves no favors by losing this game.
Yellow Jackets quarterback was named the Player of the Game for his efforts. He went 11-of-15 for 146 yards in the air and also added 15 carries for 54 yards on the ground.

The Yellow Jackets earned 190 rushing yards and look like a team on the rise. Florida State’s loss is a set back, but it’s not as drastic as it would have been a year ago.
The 2024 season will feature 12 teams making the playoff, with five automatic qualifiers for conference champions. While Florida State starts the season with a conference loss, there is a path that still exists for the team.
The Seminoles now just have less room for error.
