Defensive tackle Vita Vea and wide receiver Mike Evans, two of the Buccaneers’ top stars, will play on “Monday Night Football” against the Ravens.

Vea was questionable after being added to the injury report Saturday with a hamstring injury. The massive 6-foot-4, 347-pounder is a run-stopping force who can also bully blockers into the backfield and will be the toughest test yet this season for Ravens Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum.

Evans has long been one of the league’s top receivers, with 10 straight seasons over 1,000 receiving yards to start his career. Evans (hamstring) didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday but was off the injury report Saturday. He and Chris Godwin are one of the NFL’s top wide receiver duos.

Bucs running back Rachaad White, who was questionable with a foot injury, is also active.

Rattler was 22 of 40 for 243 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, both in the second half. Running back Alvin Kamara had 13 carries for 40 yards with a 4-yard touchdown run, the 60th of his career. Rookie receiver Bub Means had his first reception, his first touchdown catch (10 yards in the second quarter) while catching five catches for 45 yards. The Saints used their fourth combination at offensive line with the absence of guard/center Lucas Patrick. Connor McGovern started in his place. The run game was a struggle, the longest run was a 16-yard scramble by Rattler, and pass protection became an issue in the second half.

Paulson Adebo, Johnathan Abram and Cameron Jordan had interceptions for the Saints while linebacker Willie Gay had a sack. But it wasn’t enough to stop Mayfield and the Bucs. The former No. 1 overall draft pick was 24 of 36 for 325 yards with four touchdown passes and the three interceptions. Sean Tucker had 14 carries for 136 yards while Bucky Irving added 81 yards on 14 carries. They each had a touchdown. It is the fifth time in franchise history the Saints have given up 50 or more points. The 594 yards is the second most the Saints have given up in franchise history.

The Bucs, playing for the first time in 10 days, practiced all week at Tulane to escape the impact of Hurricane Milton, which hit the Tampa Bay area. The Saints, who entered this week on short rest after the Monday night game, have an even shorter week as they host the Denver Broncos on “Thursday Night Football” at the Caesars Superdome. The Broncos (3-2) are playing the Los Angeles Chargers at 3:05 p.m. Sunday.

The Atlanta Falcons were down three points, with less than two minutes left and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in possession of the ball. You’ll never guess what happened next.

After a furious drive to send the game to OT, the Falcons stunned their NFC South foes on a 45-yard KhaDarel Hodge touchdown to win 36-30. The biggest star of the night: Kirk Cousins, who shook off a slow start to his Falcons tenure with one of the biggest nights of his career.

The former Minnesota Vikings starter finished 42-of-58 for 509 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception. He picked the Bucs apart in the drive to force OT, then hammered them again after the Falcons won the second coin toss.

The Falcons’ comeback erased an excellent night for Baker Mayfield, who was 19-of-24 for 180 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The Tampa Bay run game also combined for 160 yards on 26 attempts. But some late missteps spelled doom for a team that no longer leads the NFC South.

The Eagles are in Tampa Bay getting ready for a 1 PM kickoff against the Buccaneers in a rematch of the 2023 Wild Card round.

The Eagles announced on Sunday morning that All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson has been downgraded to out with a concussion. He suffered the injury in last Sunday’s win over the Saints. Fred Johnson will start at right tackle today against the Buccaneers.

Along with Lane Johnson, the Eagles will be without both of their star wide receivers in A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion). Brown will miss his third straight game despite returning to practice as a limited participant on Friday. Smith was not able to clear concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head in the win over the Saints last Sunday.

With Brown and Smith out, and Britain Covey on Injured Reserve due to a shoulder injury, the Eagles elevated receivers Parris Campbell and John Ross from the practice squad. Campbell had two catches for 13 yards after being brought up for the Saints game. Ross returned to the Eagles on September 24 and will make his debut today.

Guard/tackle Darian Kinnard is active and will make his Eagles debut after signing with the team in February.

Broncos announce inactives for Week 3 game vs. Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. — The Broncos have announced their seven inactive players ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In addition to safety JL Skinner, who was ruled out on Friday with an ankle injury, the following players are inactive: quarterback Zach Wilson, wide receiver Devaughn Vele, running back Blake Watson, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, tight end Lucas Krull and defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike.

Wilson will serve as the team’s emergency third quarterback and is eligible to play if the Broncos’ other two quarterbacks suffer injuries.

Rookie wide receiver Troy Franklin, who made his debut in Week 2, is again active for Denver. Rookie tackle Frank Crum is active for the first time in his young career.

Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday September 15

After losing to the Lions twice last season, once at home Week 6 and another in the Divisional Round of the playoffs at Ford Field that ended their season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers exacted a bit of revenge Sunday by downing Detroit, 20-16, at Ford Field.

Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield continued his terrific start to the season with a passing touchdown and one rushing. He made multiple plays with his legs to escape pressure and extend plays.

Detroit’s offense was never really able to get on track for the second straight week. Detroit settled for too many field goals and were just 1-for-7 in the red zone, which was the big story of the game for Detroit in a close loss. The Lions were a top three offense in the red zone last year, but credit the Bucs for winning that battle Sunday.

Trailing 20-16 with 5 minutes, 12 seconds on the clock and starting at their own 18-yard line, quarterback Jared Goff drove the Lions down to the Bucs’ 10-yard line with a little more than a minute left but couldn’t convert on 4th & 8 as the Lions turned it over.

After the defense forced a three-and-out, Detroit got the ball back at the Bucs’ 44-yard line with 33 seconds left. Detroit got as far as the Bucs’ 28-yard line before turning it over on downs again without a shot to the end zone as they fell to 1-1 on the season.
