Alma Police: DNA linked to Morgan Nick discovered in truck that once belonged to suspect | White River Now

ALMA, Ark. — At a press conference Tuesday morning, the Alma Police Department reported a development in its investigation into the 1995 kidnapping of 6-year-old Morgan Nick from a Little League ballfield.

DNA matching Morgan’s mother Colleen Nick, one of her siblings, or one of her children was confirmed to be found in the vehicle of an early suspect in Morgan’s kidnapping.

Morgan was kidnapped from the parking lot of the Alma Little League ballfield at approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 9, 1995. A description of the suspect was provided, as was the description of a red truck with a white camper shell that was allegedly involved.

Alma Police detectives, in cooperation with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials, have spent thousands of hours investigating more than 10,000 leads. That investigation continues to this day.

One of the early persons of interest was Billy Jack Lincks, a resident of Van Buren, Ark. Lincks was arrested on Aug. 29, 1995 — roughly 12 weeks after Morgan’s disappearance — for sexual solicitation of a child. Lincks used his red truck during the offense. Police questioned Lincks regarding Morgan on Aug. 31, 1995. He denied any knowledge of Morgan’s abduction and appeared to be truthful. Investigators moved on.

In July 2019, Alma Police detectives began reviewing the early stages of the investigation. In doing so, their attention was drawn, once again, to Billy Jack Lincks. They located the truck he owned in 1995, which had been sold several times in the following years. The current owner of the truck was not acquainted with Lincks and permitted detectives to conduct an in-depth examination of the vehicle for evidence.

On July 28, 2020, the FBI Evidence Response Team examined the truck. Among the collection methods the team used was that of vacuuming various locations within the vehicle. In doing so, they produced several “vacuum canisters” containing various forms of matter, including hair. The FBI retained custody of the evidence.

In July 2023, Alma Police Detective Shawn Taylor learned of advanced analysis processes available at Othram Laboratory, based in Texas. Detective Taylor retrieved evidence collected from the truck by the FBI and, on Dec. 1, 2023, submitted it to Othram Laboratory for analysis.

On Sept. 27, 2024, Othram Laboratory sent a report to Detective Taylor, stating, in essence, that they determined that hair contained in the evidence he submitted for analysis was that of Colleen Nick, one of her siblings, or one of her children.

Follow-up interviews of members of the Nick family revealed that none of them knew Billy Jack Lincks and that none of them had ever been in his truck.

Physical evidence collected from the truck that Lincks owned when Morgan was abducted strongly indicates that Morgan had been in his truck.

Billy Jack Lincks died in the year 2000. Morgan Nick is still missing. Alma Police detectives have reached a point where they can concentrate on a single suspect to determine the circumstances surrounding Morgan’s abduction.

“An army of supporters, advocates and heroes have rallied to uncover the truth about her disappearance,” said Colleen Nick, Morgan’s mother.

“He stole Morgan from me, her dad, Logan and Taryn. He didn’t see that he could never win. Because our love for Morgan – her memory, her voice – outlasted his life. And that love continues to shine. Morgan’s heart shines on.”

Alma Police asks that anyone with information that could help resolve this case, please call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Are Jeremy Allen White and Molly Gordon Dating in Real Life?

I’ve been a diehard Molly Gordon fan—Gordonite? Gordonista?—ever since I saw her make out with Rachel Sennott in Emma Seligman’s 2020 film, Shiva Baby, and my obsession was deeply validated by 2023’s Theater Camp, a witty and genuinely moving mockumentary about a performing-arts camp in the Adirondacks that 28-year-old Gordon codirected and costarred in as a dippy, clog-wearing music instructor inexplicably yet perfectly named Rebecca-Diane. (The image of Ben Platt entering a room looking for Gordon’s character and calling out “Becks-Di?” may never leave my mind.) I have to admit that I like White for her, even though I’m pretty sure her first move will be to make him throw out the two packs of what appear to be American Spirits that he’s clutching in their make-out pic. (I don’t know, I just get a “will make you quit smoking” energy from her, but that’s not a criticism; needling girlfriends save lungs and lives!)

While it’s unclear when White and Gordon’s romance began, White has only been divorced from his ex-wife, actress Addison Timlin, since May of 2023, after which he was briefly involved with model Ashley Moore before being spotted around Los Angeles with Rosalía. You could accuse him of moving on quite quickly, but is that really such a bad thing? (Don’t forget, I’m a divorce stan, so I’m naturally also pro-rebound in many but not all cases.) Gordon, for her part, reportedly dated her Theater Camp codirector Nick Lieberman for some unspecified period of time, but to be honest, even my CIA-level celebrity-romance googling skills couldn’t surface much else about her romantic history. But why shouldn’t Gordon make her A-list dating debut with someone as bedroom eyed and in demand as White? Theater girlies for the win!

Jets-Patriots Game Recap | Aaron Rodgers, Green & White Dominate New England

The offense didn’t slow down coming out of intermission, making a three-score game when Rodgers connected with Wilson on a 2-yard scoring pass, the second-year wideout’s first of the season, in the third quarter to extend the lead, 21-3. The Jets’ 18-point margin was their largest third-quarter lead over New England in their last 26 home games (1998 regular-season finale) and the largest in all games in their last 49 meetings (2000).

Looking spry at 40, Rodgers showed mobility to extend the play and gain yards downfield. He had 18 yards rushing, 11 of which came on a scramble along the Jets’ sideline where he took a shot from Keion White.

“This was kind of the first step of in playing the way I know I’m capable of playing,” Rodgers said. “I felt like I was myself quite a few years ago.”

The Jets’ defense didn’t take its foot off the gas while allowing 139 total yards. DE Will McDonald, coming off a 3- sack performance in Week 2 vs. Tennessee, led the Green & White with 2 of the team’s 7 sacks and LB Quincy Williams’ 8 tackles led the team. S Chuck Clark also registered his first sack in green and white and forced a fumble by RB Rhamondre Stevenson that he recovered.

“We talk about a style of play and a standard and just playing with relentless effort,” Saleh said. “Just 11 hats to the ball and I thought we did that.”

With 4:24 remaining the Patriots inserted rookie QB Drake Maye, who was selected No. 3 overall in April’s draft. He drove the ball to New York’s 7-yard line before being dropped for a sack by DE Takk McKinley and Thomas.

Vanna White ‘was scared’ over Ryan Seacrest on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Vanna White initially feared having Ryan Seacrest as the new host of “Wheel of Fortune.”

During this weekend’s episode of CBS Sunday Morning, White, 67, addressed her working relationship with Seacrest, 49, after taping her first episodes of the game show without longtime host Pat Sajak, 77.

“I’ve known Ryan for probably 20 years,” said White. “But in the past couple of months, we’ve done some traveling together for the show, and we got to know each other a little better, too.”

“So, I think our chemistry is good,” she added.

When asked if she was “nervous” about her and Seacrest’s chemistry, the beloved letter-turner replied, “I had no idea what to expect, when I’m used to one person for so long.”

“I was very scared,” she admitted, “but he’s doing a great job.”

White has been on “Wheel of Fortune” since 1982. Last year, Sajak, 77, announced he was retiring from the show after 41 seasons.

After Seacrest was announced as the new host, there were rumors that he and White weren’t seeing eye to eye.

“She just doesn’t jibe with Ryan like she did with Pat, and no one really ever expected her to,” a source claimed about White to the Daily Mail. “There is just no way that she possibly could.”

However, an insider close to Seacrest told The Post, “There is absolutely no truth to this story. Ryan and Vanna have started working together and have been having a lovely time on set.”

White later brushed off the feud allegations by sharing a photo of her and Seacrest out to dinner together in July.

“Friends on and off camera,” she wrote in her caption.

Seacrest had his first day on the set of the game show in July. According to CBS Sunday Morning, the “American Idol” host “seemed comfortable” in his new TV job.

“This is such an incredible, special franchise,” he told the morning news show about “Wheel of Fortune.”

“It’s more than a TV show,” Seacrest added. “It is something that means something to people. And when I found out that this was an opportunity for me, there’s no thought to this. It was like, ‘Absolutely. Let’s figure it out, and let’s get started.’ “

White previously told TV Insider that she thought about retiring after Sajak announced his exit from the show, but she ended up signing a contract extension to stay on the program through the 2025-2026 season.

While discussing losing her longtime TV partner, White said, “I can’t describe how I feel. I feel happy for him. I can’t imagine doing the show without him after 41 years. I sum it up as [like] reading a good book. It always has to end. This has been the best book I’ve ever read.”

“Wheel of Fortune” Season 42 premieres Sept. 9.

Zuckerberg regrets bowing to White House ‘pressure’ over Covid

Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg says he regrets bowing to what he said was pressure from the Biden administration to “censor” content on Facebook and Instagram during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter sent to a US House committee chair, he said senior officials, including some from the White House, pressured Meta to remove content in 2021.

The White House has defended its actions, saying it encouraged “responsible actions to protect public health and safety”.

Mr Zuckerberg also said his firm briefly “demoted” content relating to Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, ahead of the 2020 election, after the FBI warned of “a potential Russian disinformation” operation.

The content did not turn out to be part of such an operation, Mr Zuckerberg said.

Addressing the Covid content, Mr Zuckerberg wrote: “In 2021, senior officials from the Biden administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain Covid-19 content, including humour and satire.

“We made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today.

“I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”

Mr Zuckerberg said he and Meta would be ready to “push back” if something similar happened in the future.

His letter was addressed to Jim Jordan, the chair of the House judiciary committee, which has been investigating content moderation on online platforms. Republicans said the letter was a “big win for free speech“.

In a statement issued to the website Politico, the White House stood by its actions.

It said: “Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present.”

Mr Zuckerberg’s comments on Hunter Biden refer to the story of a laptop that was abandoned by the president’s son at a repair shop in Delaware – as first reported by the New York Post.

The newspaper claimed emails found on the computer suggested his business abroad had influenced US foreign policy while his father was vice-president.

The president and his family have denied any wrongdoing.

The story became a notable right-wing talking point in the US, and a point of contention as some social media platforms censored the content.

“In retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story,” Mr Zuckerberg wrote.

“We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Mr Zuckerberg also said he did not plan to make any more contributions to supporting electoral infrastructure.

In 2020, he donated $400m (£302m) via his philanthropic Chan Zuckerberg Initiative which was intended to help government offices conduct the election during the pandemic.

However, misinformation spread rapidly on social media accusing Mr Zuckerberg of effectively using a loophole to skirt maximum donation limits in a bid to get Mr Biden elected.

Mr Zuckerberg said his donations “were designed to be non-partisan”.

“Still, despite the analyses I’ve seen showing otherwise, I know that some people believe this work benefited one party over the other.

“My goal is to be neutral and not play a role on way or another – or to even appear to be playing a role – so I don’t plan on making a similar contribution this cycle.”

Zuckerberg alleges White House ‘pressured’ Meta to ‘censor’ Covid-19 content

The Biden Administration “pressured” Facebook-parent Meta to “censor” content related to Covid-19, the social media giant’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg alleged, adding that he regrets some of the decisions taken in relation to the U.S. government’s requests.

“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” Zuckerberg wrote in a letter to the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee.

The letter was posted on the Committee’s Facebook page and on its account on the X social media platform on Monday.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the letter’s authenticity to CNBC.

Zuckerberg said it was ultimately Meta’s decision to take down any content, but he noted he believes that the so-called “government pressure was wrong.”

“I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,” Zuckerberg said.

NBC News has reached out to the White House for comment Tuesday morning, but did not immediately receive a response.

In a statement to Politico, the White House said: “When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety.”

“Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present,” it added.

Zuckerberg said Meta made some choices that, “with the benefit of hindsight and new information,” the tech giant would not make again.

“Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction — and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again,” Zuckerberg said.

In August 2021, Facebook said it had removed more than 20 million posts related to Covid-19 for violating its content rules across the main social networking site and Instagram.

That year, the White House criticized social media firms, including Facebook, for allowing misinformation related to the Coronavirus to spread across their platforms.

Zuckerberg’s letter underscores the ongoing debate about the extent to which social media firms should moderate content.

The House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has alleged that big technology firms colluded with the government to censor speech.

Zuckerberg also discussed his position on the upcoming U.S. presidential vote, noting that he made contributions via the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative toward electoral infrastructure during the previous round at the polls. He said he will not be doing that for the upcoming election.

“My goal is to be neutral and not play a role one way or another — or to even appear to be playing a role,” Zuckerberg said.
